Those of you feeling slightly energetic, either with a competitive nature, or just want to compete for fun, let us know. Paddle Round The Pier is first up. We’re looking to do a Comp with about 5 events. If anyone would like to help out official, that would be amazing to.

Anyone looking to further there learning, and wants to become a SLSGB Beach Lifeguard Trainer Assessor (TA), could they contact me (Kirk). We’re potentially looking at June/July 2009. The course is open to anyone who holds a current Beach Lifeguard Qualification, and has done a season, either Voluntary or Paid, as a Beach Lifeguard. Just to confirm this years AGM is to be held at the Brighton Hilton Metropole, 7.30pm, Tuesday 10th Feb. Hope to see you all there.

We are back from our winter hibernations, looking forward to start the second year of the clubs life. We have planned some Beach Lifeguard Course to start you off, all the details can be found on the courses pages.

Our AGM is on Tuesday 10^th February down at the Brighton Sailing Club starting at 7.30pm. Please come along and supported the club. Find out what we have been doing and what we want to be doing in the coming year. Look forward to seeing you all..

STOP PRESS ** NEW WEBSITE COMING SOON **

Well done to everyone that took part in our first two Beach Lifeguard courses. We are starting our weekly training night on Wednesday 28^th May at the Brighton Sailing Club at 7pm. This session will continue through the summer to keep your skills up-to-date and improving (and maybe a couple beers afterwards). This is open to club members only.

We will also be looking for beach lifeguards that are interested in the competition side; we are planning to run our first comp at the Paddle round the Pier event on the 5^th and 6^th July. If you’re interested in being part of Brighton’s team or want to enter your clubs team send me an email: bslsc.training@googlemail.com. Thanks Paul.

After a brief administration review we will be ready to take new members on board in the next few days. I’ll let you know when processes are fully up to speed and you too can join the best Surf Life Saving Club in the country, possibly the world (ok, I do have a slightly biased view). Watch this space. A massive congratulations goes to Kirk Lee, BSLSC’s club captain. Although, the award will be due to Kirk’s commitment to Eastbourne Vouluntary Lifeguards in previous years. On Nov 17th 2007 the annual ‘Heroes of the Surf’ awards evening took place in South Devon. Kirk was recognised for his dedication and service during the year as a SLSA GB  and was awarded the ‘Services to Lifesaving’ award. Click on the picture below to find a full report of the evening can. Also, Kirk!! A very late Congratulations is in order to all those that took their Beach Lifeguard course back in October. Apologies but cannot remember all the names from EVL but ‘the brighton lot’ are as follows:

Paul Abbie, Simon Crute, Anthony Biddlecombe, Harry Walker & Paul Bass.

Also, a congratulations to Susan Reynolds and Jacquie from EVL for passing their instructors course.

Not only this, but Anthony Biddlecombe, Issy Wood, Chris Ingall and Harry Walker have now qualified as probationary instructors and are hoping to run courses around Easter 2008.
